Nowadays everyone knows how important social media is. No matter whether you love them or hate them, we can’t live without them!
Likewise, every artist must understand that their name, be it fictitious or real, is nothing more than a brand. This means that the artist not only markets his music but also his name. So branding is extremely important! That’s why every post must have at least its tag and the logo!
This is the only way to burn yourself into people’s memory (apart from well-made music). Don’t forget to use the right hashtags! Above all, of course, create your name as a hashtag!
Nobody can expect to become famous overnight. Taylor Swift and Co. couldn’t do that either, and certainly not alone! It’s years of hard work for a team!
What if a label and publisher becomes aware of you and wants to sign you or has done so (or the music)? Does the artist’s work on social media then stop and someone else takes over?
The clear answer is NO!
An artist continues to work on their social media and branding. He continues to have close contact with his fans and also other artists or people from the music business! The label and publisher only support the artist. An artist also provides content so that his label and publisher can work for him!
But why do I as an artist have to keep working on it? The only correct answer is this: Your fans, magazines, radio stations want to see that you stand behind your songs and believe in them. Otherwise people just won’t take you seriously. You can place as much advertising as you like. There will be no success nor will you be able to create a living from your passion.
Your label and publisher will only be able to help you to a limited extent. Work closely with them and listen to tips.
But which social media should you use? As much as possible!
- TikTok
- YouTube (here, of course, shorts and videos [via VEVO])
- Instagram including threads
What should your content look like? This should contain many prompts such as. e.g. Follow me, share the content, create a dance, show me your video with my song etc. (most of which can or should be posted as a story!) But there are no limits to your creativity! Like with your music.
You do all of this for a reason! To spread your passion. Because you don’t just write songs out of boredom, right?
